Forgot Udyam registration number? Recover it in 5 steps

If you forgot Udyam registration number details, you do not need a consultant. The official recovery option is free and takes about two minutes.

  1. Open Forgot Udyam/UAM No.

On udyamregistration.gov.in open the Print / Verify menu and select Forgot Udyam/UAM No.

  2. Choose Udyam Registration

Pick Udyam Registration (or Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum if you are looking for an old UAM number).

  3. Choose Mobile or Email

Select the OTP option as filled in your application and enter that mobile number or email ID.

  4. Validate the OTP

Click Validate & Generate OTP, enter the OTP and click Validate OTP. All registration numbers linked to that mobile or email are shown.

  5. Download the certificate

Copy the number, go to Print / Verify → Print Udyam Certificate, enter it with the registered mobile, verify the OTP and save the PDF.

Recovering the number does not download the certificate by itself — the download is a second, separate step on the same menu. You will need a fresh OTP for it.

Udyam certificate download without Udyam number: other ways

If the forgot option shows nothing, the mobile or email you entered isn’t the registered one. Try these before anything else to recover your Udyam number:

Search your inbox and SMS

Look for “Udyam” or “MSME” in email and messages. The registration confirmation contains your number.

Try the other contact

If mobile fails, try the email option — and vice versa. Many people registered with an office email.

Ask whoever filed it

A CA, consultant or cyber café may have used their own mobile or email. They can share the OTP or the number.

Check old documents

Bank loan files, GeM profile, tender bids and vendor forms often carry a copy of your certificate.

No access to the registered mobile or email at all

OTP is mandatory, so you cannot complete it online without one of them. Your options:

  • Raise a grievance on the Ministry of MSME’s champions.gov.in portal explaining the situation, with Aadhaar, PAN and business proof.
  • Visit your District Industries Centre (DIC) with the same documents and a written application.
  • Once access is restored, update the mobile and email to ones you control.

Don’t create a second Udyam registration to “start fresh”. One person or PAN can have only one registration, and a duplicate attempt is blocked or creates problems later with banks.

Why people forget their Udyam registration number

Most people who forgot their Udyam number registered once, years ago, and never needed it again until a bank, buyer or tender asked. The common reasons:

  • A CA, consultant or cyber café filed the registration and kept the confirmation email.
  • The registration SMS went to an old SIM that is no longer in use.
  • The business migrated from Udyog Aadhaar and the owner still remembers only the old UAM number.
  • Several businesses were registered by the same person or consultant, and the numbers got mixed up.

Whatever the reason, the fix for a forgotten Udyam registration number is the same: recover it with the registered mobile or email, then complete the Udyam certificate download without the number on hand.

Lost the old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) number?

Use the same page but choose Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum. Once you have the UAM number, migrate it to Udyam — see Udyog Aadhaar to Udyam migration.

Frequently asked questions

What should I do if I forgot Udyam registration number?

Recover the number free using Print / Verify → Forgot Udyam/UAM No. with your registered mobile or email OTP. Then use Print Udyam Certificate with that number to download the PDF.

Can I recover my Udyam number using Aadhaar or PAN?

Not on the official recovery page — it uses only the registered mobile or email. Aadhaar and PAN help only if you approach the DIC or raise a grievance.

The forgot page says no record found. Why?

The mobile or email you entered isn’t the one in your Udyam application, or you selected Udyam instead of UAM (or the reverse). Try the other contact and the other registration option.

Is recovering the Udyam number free?

Yes. Recovering the number and downloading the certificate are both free on udyamregistration.gov.in.

Can I see multiple Udyam numbers on one mobile?

Yes. If several registrations used the same mobile or email (for example, a consultant’s number), the recovery screen lists all of them. Pick the one with your enterprise name.
